Volcan Arenal, Costa Rica

several people have contacted me to request more info about our next Costa Rica Adventure.  Our next Costa Rica activity is coming up this November, so I’ll be publishing a series of articles about the best national parks in Costa Rica. Some of this beautiful parks are included in our Costa Rica excursion: “Beaches and Volcanos.” 

Here is the first article, related to one of the most acclaimed park. 

Arenal Volcano National Park is a colossus 1600 meters high and one of the busiest in the world. With regular eruptions, it’s a sight you can not miss. It covers an area of 12,000 hectares and was created in 1994.  The nights at the foot of the volcano are a mixture of color, fire and an unparalleled excitement. Furthermore, the flowing volcano lava will leave you with an unforgettable feeling impossible to forget.

The Arenal volcano is located about 4 or 5  hours driving from the city of San Jose. The Arenal volcano is part of what is known as the “heart of Costa Rican energy ”  The park hosts a large number of flora and fauna specific for this region. Here we might be able to observe many animals including deer, jaguars, tapirs, coatis, boas, hummingbirds and many parrots.  Also, plants of various types, from ferns to the most beautiful orchids.

Lake Arenal, at the base of the volcano, is one of the main sources of several natural energy types produce within the region. The location is worldwide known for windsurfing activities.  Costa Rica nature is famous and the hot springs at the foot of the volcano is a main attractions. Their natural powers and the feelings experienced by those who bathe in them will leave speechless.

The Arenal Volcano National Park offers a complete package of ecotourism activities that are for all tastes. Hiking, horseback riding, windsurfing, hot springs, pots, trails, viewing animals and plants, and plenty more activities.
